of these files are very large. Download with a T1
line is nearly instantaneous for most files. Dial up may
simply take too long. Other connections range from 10 seconds

These are pdf files
that can be saved to your hard drive. There are
census/record images within these pdfs that had to be
reduced to fit the document. Use the zoom feature with your
reader to enlarge the images were necessary. The resolution
on some images is not great due to the limitations of the
original scans but they are adequate.
Census Records
The census indexes were not relied
on
in this series of pdfs. Each page of each Township record
was viewed so that there can be no doubt that everyone that
was recorded is included in these pages.

Oldest Inhabitants-Mary Lossing Dymond
Page 267**
This is an
interesting entry. One of the oldest resident families of
the Highlands was the Lossing family. Peter Lossing1 was
their when the land was signed over by the Indians of the
area. Peter was allowed to remain on the land by a quitclaim
in 1683. The Peter Lossing3 home in the Highlands
was the site of many Baptisms of the New York Lutheran
Church. See Dymen baptisms. Lossing was another name linked
to early Dymen's as were Montross, McDaniel, Emigh, Booth, Sickler. This entry states she was from New Jersey
( we
know she was from NY). Many Lossing descendants changed the
name to Lawson in later generations. The knowledge of Mary
being 'Indian' was passed down several branches of the
family which is all the more interesting knowing what we do
of the Dymond paternal lineage. Her description in her obit
is also of interest.

This entry is
of interest as it goes to the migration of John and the
others into the Luzerne Co. area where they settled.
It appears that they were all on the move out of the
Poughkeepsie area at about the same time. Matthew and
children to Woodstock. Most of the children continuing to PA
after a brief stay at Woodstock.
